The Repair and Warranty Service (RWS) team provides multi-year support as a result of Curtiss Wright Controls Embedded Computing's process for obsolescence management including Curtiss-Wright's commitment to purchase and store components when they are offered for last-time buy. As a result, Curtiss-Wright provides long-term repair support for its products and a product family is typically repaired for 10 or more years from its date of introduction. For instance, Curtiss-Wright intends to repair the 179 family of single board computers, first introduced during 1999, until at least 2011. If customers require support beyond the 10-year mark, then Curtiss-Wright offers the Longevity of Repair (LOR) service that is described under Longevity of Supply & Repair.
In addition to providing long-term support, the RWS team offers the following:
Fixed-price repairs. Fixed prices help customers achieve cost determinism and, through streamlined administration associated with fixed prices, shorten repair turn-around times.
Upgrades & retrofits. Existing boards can be upgraded to newer configurations that have improved software loads, more memory, or other enhancements.
Failure analysis. RWS provides preliminary fault determination and correction (i.e. component identification and replacement). Coupled with Curtiss-Wright's Quality Assurance and Customer Support teams, the fault determination can be expanded to become a more detailed failure analysis.
